Following up on reactions to South Central...

Steve Lagavulin has a commentary on the South Central farm. In essense, he agrees with Ran (as do I). He also has a similar story from his home town:

It reminds me in a way of a local restaurant here in Minneapolis called The Loring, which was such an innovative and cool place that it became a legendary hipster-scene here in the city for young bohemian artists (and the people who love them...). The Loring single-handedly rejuvenated a failing city-central Loring Park area, and brought great prosperity to a full city-block of real estate. And over time the restaurant expanded into an entertainment lounge, and then a theatre/performing arts space. But alas The Loring is no more, because as successful as it had become the owner never actually bought the building it was housed in. So that all the while Loring Park area was becoming regentrified and trendier, the real estate there was becoming more and more desireable. Finally, about three years ago, The Loring was booted out in favor of a more mainstream-kind-of-trendy restaurant, with deeper pockets.

And so it goes. As always.
